Hi,
I have been running pppoe over a Verizon DSL service for about a year
and a half, and it suddenly has failed. I first noticed this a few days
ago, and assumed the the connection hd timed-out (which it used to to,
until I started to run Kmil, which makes periodic pop requests over the

Hi,
I have a problem with a Debian-stable (Wody) install. When I connect via
ssh to this box, and the connection gets cut while I am running a vim
session, vim runs out of control and the CPU usage goes up to 99.5%. The
process has to be killed manually. I have heard that this is a problem

Will do. I have a strange thing in my dselect list, under Obsolet/local
optional packages:
kernel-image 1.64
when I try to remove the package, I get a warning that I am going to
uninstall the kernel. However, I also have 2.2.19 installed. Not sure what is
causing that...
The problem could be wi
.e. hdd before hdc. Anyone else
have this problem? Is this a bug?
Cheers,
JP

I am not mounting this manually, or I would do it the way I want it. I will

Hi All,
I have a problem with my device configuration. I have a CD player and a CD
writer (/dev/hdc and /dev/hdd, respectively), and whenever I boot up it links
up the writer on /dev/cdrom1, and the reader on /dev/cdrom2 (/dev/cdrom is,
correctly a link to /dev/cdrom1). I can change the links,
I'm not so sure it is a KDE problem.
I have this same problem, but I also have it with
sawfish/Gnome (it is worse - I can't get to a
terminal), and even with only twm and the basic X
system running. Trying to log in just puts you back to
the login screen.
I also have an nVidia card (GeForce2 MX
Hi,
I upgraded my Potato box to Progeny, and now to Debian
testing. When I tried to install xserver-xfree86
(4.1), it started out fine, identified my printer, and
then hung while installing/configuring. This also
happened when I upgraded to Progeny/Newton. In the
earlier case I just uninstalled th
