users to shut down the system cleanly from the GUI.
What works now is: CTRL + q (shuts down Galeon and X) and CTRL + ALT +
DEL (does 'shutdown -h') and power off.
No too elegant, but does seem to work ;-)

Hi Listpeople - I would like to execute a php script from crontab.
Some Suse users told me they have a /usr/bin/php which allows for
just that.
I have tried to find a package in Debian which brings this, but
have not been able to locate it.

because I could manually get 'MIRRORED.BY' with those programs on the
same machine. Unfortunately the same error came back when getting the
actual program.

to me to this morning. It seems that the Ximian people
introduced a version number in brackets after the line:
Provides: ximian-gnumeric
in the file you mention under Gnumeric section.
I removed the number and it worked afterwards. Also reported this on the
Ximian-users list.

thinking along the line of 'dpkg --purge' and having a go at the source
tar, or alienating the rpm with a potato 'alien'? I am not too much of a
crack at this, so I would prefer a simple idiot-proof solution ;-)

Libc6 and a lot more. I want to prospond that
move a little until I have restored my basic functionality (the reason
I did a reinstall in the first place was a system that broke because I
mixed too much of Potato and Woody, but that was about a year ago). For
the time being Mailman 1.1 seems to work for my (simple) needs.

Dear list, this should be easy, but I have not managed yet...
I run Gnome desktop as a 'regular' user. If I need to do systemsmanagment, I
do 'su -' in a terminal to get root access. Only if I need to start an X app
(just installed red-carper), I get an error:
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display
matter what
I do.
I have found a directory with what appear to be spelling files, but not
seperate files for Dutch language for instance. French does work..
Documentation and help files do indicate that it should be possible, but
not how. If anyone here has a suggestion...

I think you want to have a look at the 'kernel-package' package. Has
good documentation too. I have also found the Install Guide for 2.2 has
a useful section on upgrading the kernel with 'kernel-package'.

genuine memory hog. I have a 128 Mb laptop, all
gets eaten if I start SO. Also, performance of the system degrades
quite a bit. If I do a 'ps aux' I notice quite a few instances of SO
around. Is this expected behavour?
Other than that, very impressed with StarOffice!
