Greetings,
I am planning to upgrade our department's router/firewall running
Debian/sarge with some fancy GBit NICs (Intel GT). From my first tests
I noticed that the e1000 module from linux-2.6.8 does not recognize the
new card, however KNOPPIX with a 2.6.17 does. So its time for a kernel

Hello group,
today I tried to run a cvs pserver from xinetd / tcpwrapper as non root.
Like this:
service cvspserver
{
flags = NAMEINARGS
socket_type = stream
protocol= tcp
wait= no
user= cvs
server = /usr/sbin/tcpd
By the way, EFI partition type is NOT set as suggested elsewhere.
However I guess the hardware sector count
"250593 512-byte hdwr sectors (128 MB)" might be wrong after all -
Does anyone know which kernel options need to be tweeked to get this
straight?

Hi everybody,
I have been using my digital camera for quite some time now. However,
today it stopped working with my debian and won't come up again.
Hardware is OK, as Windows works *sigh*

Hi,
I switched from linux 2.4 to 2.6 some months ago. AFAIK, 2.6's

The manpage ( 5 modprobe.conf) also mentions the
/lib/modules/modprobe.conf file, wich (among others) the alsa init
script depends on. However, I am not

main system ist archived by "dar", excluding all binaries in /sbin, /bin
and the complete /usr directory. There is a list of alle installed
packages, retrieved by dpkg --get-selection
The backup medium (harddisk) contains a

"enable" is a built-in command by the ba-shell. I do not know how
someone came to the great idea to choose "enable" for
Hi folks,
I know this is a very-FAQ, but I still can't get it working.
Environment: Debian/Sid with gnome2. 14" TFT-Display at 1024x768 and
X set to 100dpi res.
Problem: font sizes in gtk1.2+ applications (sylpheed, openoffice, gimp)
are ridicously large (measured about 6mm)
