hello all,i have a system with a gigabyte mobo (ga-965sp-s3) with intel Pentium-D 925 processor. i am trying to install debian stable (3.1 r3) using the netinstall cd. although the cd is read and i get the "press F1 for help or ENTER for boot:" message, the CDROM mounting step fails with the messag

failed". (btw, i did register the mac address with att.)
what could be wrong?

i am running debian kernel 2.4.17 on a ibm t22 laptop. i am trying to install
pcmcia modules to use my wavelan/ethernet cards.
when i do a make all, i get the following error message and it dies. could

am running kernel 2.2.19 with smp.
now, i am trying to upgrade to kernel 2.4.17. algthough i am able to install
the kernel-image, the machine hangs when i reboot. i have enabled RTC support,
disabled APM.

actually, i did enable realtime clock support while configuring the kernel.
what is surprising is, the 2.2.19 kernel is running in SMP mode.
