Since Skype 4.2 stopped working, I've been trying unsuccessfully to

a dependency on libmp3lame0:i386, which has some issue with conflicting

I just did an 'apt-get dist-upgrade' from the lasted squeeze update, and

I recently did a large upgrade in wheezy, and now I want to downgrade a
certain package to the previous version. Is there some way to get my
hands on that previous version?
Specifically, the upgrade brought up debian bug #665004, which made my
touchpad scrolling stop working right. The bug repor

I received no response to the first query. Any suggestions where to
look (e.g. other lists?) to diagnose why synaptics touchpad suddenly
stopped responding to two-finger operations?

Running wheezy on my laptop, the touchpad had been working, complete
with two-finger scrolling and middle-button emulation. But at some
point in the past three weeks or so---possibly after a
dist-upgrade---all the multi-touch features stopped working. Mouse

When I boot the system with the 2.6.26 kernel, the nfs mounts work.
Any suggestions what could be wrong, or how to diagnose it?

I'm trying to upgrade the kernel from 2.4 to 2.6 on my Thinkpad. I'm
using custom built kernel rather than the stock debian kernel, since
the stock kernel doesn't have some features that I want.

This is really two questions about apt.
First, how can I limit the amount of package archive that apt is
allowed to keep around? I have an old system with only 50 MB of free
disk space. It's running potato and I want to upgrade to woody via

With any luck, by then all machines will use 64 bit words and all
relevant software will be updated to recognize the dates beyond 2^31
