Greetings, one and all.
I've just recently (yesterday) upgraded to tomcat4 (4.0.3-2) and am
attempting to use mod_webapp (1.2.1-1) to forward Apache requests to
Tomcat. Per the README, I'd added the lines below to my httpd.conf:

It turns out that the symlink for my Java interpreter was pointing to
Kaffe, which apparently doesn't handle JServ correctly. I changed the
interpreter path to my symlink to the Blackdown 1.2.2 JDK interpreter,
added a few .jars (there doesn't seem to be a fesi .deb, yet) and all
was well.

Hello, everyone. I've been having problems getting Cocoon running on
my machine (both here and at work). Here's a snippet from my post to
the Cocoon list:

So, here's the cycle:
1. Restart JServ and Apache
2. http://localhost/servlets/IsItWorking responds appropriately.

I've finally managed to connect. It looks like psql is acting odd
(then again, maybe this is the default behavior... I am normally a
MySQL/Oracle user). Basically, psql requires that I explicitly supply

Hello, everyone.
So, here's the problem: In a nutshell, Postgres doesn't seem to be
listening on port 5432 (which is where everything seems to be looking
for it). Nmap confirms this, plus none of the stuff that lsof lists as
being owned by postgres seems to deal with a socket (here's the dump
Well, I work for a company that has been replacing their stock of
passive-backplane-style rack-mount units with standard micro-AT boxen. I
was supposed to swap out the boards from the cases themselves and replace
them with micro-ATs as well. However, since much of the peripheral hardware

Well, I've finally gotten sound set up correctly using the tried-and-true
technique of comparing my non-working setup to a similar one that works. I
copied over the isapnp.conf from my Mandrake partition (which seems to do a
ton more than the old one) and edited the modconf file by hand. Here's w
Dear Jonathan,
Well, I very much appreciate your help, but I've managed to make the
situation worse, possibly as a result of misinterpreting your directions...
I've loaded the modules (using modconf) per your specifications with two

Well, I installed a new kernel in the hopes that my recent sound problems
were a result of corrupt modules, but no luck. Same errors. TO recap, here
are the errors:

apparent errors when I saw this message. Were these probl
Well, before I left for the weekend, I had my sound working. When I
returned, my machine had apparently lost power and was sitting there at
"invalid system disk" because I hada floppy in the drive. Anyway, my main
partition was hosed, so I had to run fsck manually.
Next, I fired up xmms to make

Hi. Well, after running another system upgrade a couplea days ago (on

Hello, all. Well, I'm pretty puzzled by this one. I'm not exactly sure on
the cause and effect, but sometime after my recent total upgrade on Potato,
my sound quit working. When I try to reset it using sndconfig, I get this

Hello, all. Well, after gritting my teeth about the "java40.jar not found"
message I see every time I hit a Java-fied website, I decided to investigate.
Forsooth, there wasn't a java40.jar anywhere on my Debian installation. It
shows up on my (dusty) RH 6.0 dist, but not on the Debian side of
Hello, everyone. Well, I had hoped that the problem was a freak occurrence,
but it's happening about 2-3 times a week, now. Unfortunately, there isn't
much fanfare, no flurry of error messages. Nearly every time I've encountered
a system freeze, the screen had been blanked, so I couldn't see

I think I've found a possible fix. Foolishly assuming that my BIOS had

Well, since apt-get has been very zealous with its interdependency

printcap, unless the lj

Hello, all. I have been struggling valiantly to get a user to connect to
an ISP using wvdial, but so far, no dice. Here's the deal: everything

I always end up doing horrible, insecure hacks in order to access the

Hi, everyone! I have used various versions of RedHat and SuSE for about

Well, I've wrestled with the ol' HP 520 for the last time. The problem
was that it would not see where it was supposed to stop, or so it would

Hi, all. Okay, I am having serious troubles with my printer, now. The
