keyboard configuration

Hi, Is there a keyboard configuration program, or a line in the xfconfig file that I need to look at? I am getting a non-fatal error when trying to run X (console mode, no problems). The keyboard is a little unusual - very small (no number pad area), basic ps2 connection. Thanks, Brett
