The CD should come with a DOS program to extract the cab files,
EXTRACT.EXE, I think. Have you tried using that under dosemu/freedos?

You're trying to get GTK+ from potato, correct?
You'll probably have to upgrade all of your major libs to the potato
versions...
I would try this:
make sure you have frozen (potato) in your /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian frozen main contrib non-free

I would recommend bk2site, depending on how demanding your needs are.

It's in potato. I've not used the "slashdot-like" features yet, so it
will take a little configuration, but I presume it's straightforward.
(look at http://multiagent.com for an example configurati

Yes, gdm is evil :) It is not finished software, don't let the 1.0 version
number fool you. My advice is not to use it. period. The next release
(gdm2 I think) should be much better.

No, you don't need the installer.
That's why we have debs...
tdyc has everything you need, so just be patient, and I'm sure it'll be
back up soon.

You need to install the xpm4.7 package. This is the libc5 version.

Definitely go with slink. I would say that to even the most experienced
linux users, if they're new to debian. Once you're comfortable with that,
consider going to potato. Keep in mind that potato is unstable which
means it has not been officially released yet, and won't be for some time.

critical applications, and - due to it's open source code - has a long

Well, what's the error?
If the program you're trying to debianise has compilation instructions,
try to follow those first, using "configure", "make", etc. and then when
you're successful with that part, use dh_make and debuild.

this list has nothing to do with either win95 or DOS, but i'll try to help

ddo resides in the mbr (master boot record) of the drive. It is probably
still intact. just boot from floppy and do format /s c:
if that doesn't work, you'll need to use the ddo tools. go to the seagate

I've studied and tried every trick in the IPX- and Printing-HOWTO, and
the instructions there are pretty insufficient when it comes to this
