The only way I have managed to get sound from Quake3 on Debian was

If you have a 3d accelerated video card, gliv is pretty nice uses
opengl to scale and display the image... and the scroll wheel on a
mouse zooms in and out.
It also accepts multiple images from the command line, and a click of
the mouse make it slide show them with a neat fade from one image t

Since my power has come back on after hurricane Isabel, none of my
programs will play sound until I fidget with the volume controls. This
is strange because until this week I never had to do so. I'm using

I'm using Abiword from the Unstable archive. I cannot insert a symbol
into a document. The window comes up, and I can highlight a given
symbol, but cannot seem to have it inserted into the text. Plus the

On my computer I have root of course and then a normal user. If I go to
/wind as a normal user and try to delete a file, it gives me a permission
denied error. If I try creating a file, I get an error too. Given the above

Do you have the video out cable plugged in? If it's plugged in, I can't
start X, but if I unplug it then X works perfectly. Pretty sure I'm using

Kmail with dpkg
--purge and deleted all the related configuration files, reinstalled Kmail,
reconfigured it, and not it works like a charm. Back to Linux it is. I'm home
for two weeks so I really can't bother with these types of inconveniences. If
I were on my regular computer, I'd definitly be trying hard to get Kmail
working if it broke.
