I'll see if I can get squirrelmail back into working order. I did try
with Debian's Thunderbird (iceweasel) but with the same result.

Hi,
thanks for the help. Indeed. I had not thought of that: The hub I was
using was a built in hub into my Vigor 2600 DSL router.
After using a plain old hub I could see all my packets.

worse: out of ~50-100 accesses one takes very long: 10-60 secs.
That is not tolerable.
Has anyone ever experienced anything similar? and found a (removable)
reason? I am happy to post my config if that helps.
