Re: setting xterm title with -T doesn't work

So now I commented out from ~/.bashrc the line that was setting PROMT_COMMAND, and now I can set the title with the -T option, but if I start mc then reappears the title with the path, why is this?

ls -l gives "?---------" and root has no permission

Using KDE 3.5.1 on Debian unstable. I have 4 virtual desktops in KDE. I want to always open an application (say for eg, firefox) in desktop 2. Is there any easy way to do this other than starting firefox in the current window and then moving it to desktop 2 every time? thanks raju -- Kamara

Hello, I am using ubuntu with windomanager or gnome. Following problem: If I login at the box with X11(gdm), the local ~/.bash_profile file will not get evaluated. This means no evironment, which I set in the file, is present. If I login in via ssh from another pc, this will work. any ideas? Marti

I'm no expert, but it looks like a kernel oops caused by an inability to handle a paging request, and it looks like tar was doing something when it happened. Did you check the system logs for what happened right before then? Were any cron jobs running? Are you up-to-date with all your software?
