I've been running Sid for the past year or more, and
have waded through a few nasty instabilities. Unstable
is aptly named.
However, I have hit a serious snag. I did the usual
weekly or so update, and the Xwindows libraries were,

WindowMaker working but had some trouble with GNOME -- I think this was
because of conflicts between GNOME1 and GNOME2. I had however been
using several GTK- and GNOME-related packages. I successfully
installed a bunch of GNOME2 packag

I'm having trouble with GTK fonts on a
testing/unstable system. Basically, fonts in every
GTK-based (1.2) app come up as compeletely garbled.
I'm using XFree 3.3.6 (due to an old video card) and
xfs- I don't know if this is the problem. I'd be
happy to send a xwd screendump in order to illustrat

In practice there is generally a special version of bootfloppies for each

dpkg-reconfigure postgresql
()Where should the PostgreSQL database be created? [default taken]
() Should the data be purged as well as the package files? yes {since I
have the dump file, its ok to purge everything}
:-) What character encoding should the database use
