In that case, place 'set -x' as the 2nd line of the shell script (the
line after the #! business)

You probably want some sort of VPN for this. I use PPP over

Thanks for all your replies. I've installed ACPI and it indeed my
BIOS seems to be new enough to support it ;-)

I'm trying to get Sarge up and running on my Vaio
laptop (GR390) and am having some problems. I'm using
the official netinst CD image (from 2/26/03). Also,
I'm behind a firewall and must go through an HTTP
proxy.
My first (minor) problem is with selecting from a list
of options (such as choosing a

Hi,
I'm currently using gdm and I'm a bit puzzled by what exactly happens
(or doesn't happen) when starting X. I tried using a self-modified
.xsession and X starts fine, but the app-defaults for xterm aren't
loaded. Furthermore, when using one of the other Sessions, for instance
fluxbox or gnome,
Hello!
just got an interesting offer for a lifetec LT 9385 scanner, but as it
seems that damn thing needs some microcode to start up correctly
finding a windows box has gotten really difficult nowaday...
so if someone has a charitable soul and that file, please send me that
stuff !

I really doubt that "reverse proxy" is a correct term, but I don't know
what else to call this. I want to set up a way to have my laptop be at
home when I'm not there. I have a number of services running on my LAN
at home that are only accessible to internal users. I'd like to have

Hello, all
I made an initial ram disk using mkinitrd. I put it in /boot. I
configured lilo to use it for the certain kernel image i want it used
for. Re-wrote mbr. Yet, it doesn't load it. Is there a good website that
goes through exactly what needs to be done? What am I leaving out?
Thanks

Hello, all
Every time my computer starts I need to use fbset to change the
resolution. Is there a way to set the default framebuffer mode?
Thanks

I have the same chip working on my machine (a Gateway 7VAX motherboard
with the same chipset).
You will need kernel-source-2.4.20 and kernel-headers-2.4.20 installed to
do the compilation, not just kernel-package. If you do have these, make
sure your driver download is pointing at the right kernel

I’ve just downloaded a long recording of a talk from a
