Somehow I successfully installed Debian 2.2r6 on my Ultra 5 sparc. But I
having trouble in using X. Whenever I use X, I get the following error
Fatal server error:
No valid modes found.
The whole error can be seen at

I'm reposting this with a more enticing subject line.
During a dist-upgrade apt-get failed to replace libgtk1.2-common because
it couldn't overwrite
/usr/share/locale/az/LC_MESSAGES/gtk+.mo
because it is also part of the libgtk1.2 package. Do I have to remove
libgtk1.2 and reinstall
libgtk1.2
Thanks for the recommendation. Does this integrate easily with
emacs/xemacs?

irrelevant.

that is at debian.org alongside win2k on a small partition borrowed from
the win-os hard drive.
All is well - the Xirxom pc-card and dhcp 'just worked' and we are up
and running with a nice lit

I find this works quite well, but, the version of apt from Woody or Sid
