Hi!
I had to delete some settings, so I simply deleted

When I now login as root, the prompt is now [EMAIL PROTECTED] instead of just host.

Hi,
All system wide configuration is done in the directory

wil have to edit /etc/network/interfaces for your
ip, gateway, broadcast, netmask, etc. And you need to
edit /etc/resolv.conf for the dns nameservers.

Hi,
I had my boot.b file on a second hard drive mounted to /boot. That hard
drive is now thoroughly dead, and my system won't boot without the use of a
rescue disk. I've gone through the LILO documentation, and while I find

call out PING as loud as possible for every successful ping of another
machine on the network. This means you can go ro

Hi Bruce,
Leaving 10 GIg free for Linux is mor than adaquate. But some things to keep
in mind.
1. There are always games amd apps that are Windows only...why not install
XP in a 5 Gig partition and just leave it there for those occasions? If you
are sure that won't arise, fine but think about it

LILO definately can, see the various multiboot howtos. You may have to
use it in conjunction with the XP multiboot loader if it's as much like
WinNT as I suspect.

Not sure, but quake needs 27960
However, an essetial thing in quake is the ping time, and this gets worse the

Hi Stefan,
The only way I can get my ADSL link to work is to do and "ifdown ethX"
first then followed by a "pon dsl-provider". It will not start
automatically at boot so I manually run the following script.
poff dsl-provider
route del default
ifconfig eth0 down
pon dsl-provider
