I have prepared the packages needed to run kernels up to 2.4.13 on a
Debian 2.2r3 (potato) system. Please read [1] for more information.

"packages.alias" files. I have only been able to get vaguely usable fonts
by copying these files from another machine and running update-fonts-alias

When I try to start my woody system using a recently compiled
(kernel-package) 2.4.12 kernel it fails to start because it can't find
the root partition, /hda6. The immediately preceding partition check
for hda does NOT show any extended partitions, that it does show hda1

I use the GNU VCDImager package. In particular, you'll find the vcdxrip
program useful :-)

on shutdown or startup. They are zero-length files owned by root with

If either of you have rivafb support compiled into your kernels (or are
loading them as modules), you might want to avoid that. It's a known issue
with rivafb and Nvidia's binary-only drivers for X to lock on exit.
Rumours are that vesafb works just fine, though.

how can I tell GCC to use another install of glibc somewhere else on the

is there some global variable or something I can set?? or am I just better
