How can I update my system to Perl 5.6.0-20? Perl-5.005 was installed.
There is an evil dependency circularity that prevents me from upgrading

I need to set my static IP address on startup to x.y.z.141.
My router is on x.y.z.1
My network is on x.y.z.0
I'm confused about what I should be writing in the interfaces file.
ifup gives the error:
"/etc/network/interfaces: too many parameters for iface line"
for the line below.
iface

i have a geforce2mx, and sometimes after startup the screen blanks for about
half a second, then comes back to normal (this is right after I log in at
the console).
Doesn't seem to cause any problems, just one of those "whoa, that was weird"
phenomena.

I've seen folks deride the use of
alias rm 'rm -i'
because it encourages sloppy thinking, and that one time when
you're logged in from somewhere unusual and you don't actually
have that alias available POOF you'll zap more than you expect
(because there'll actually be no '-i' supplied to

Just out of curi
Just figured out that this does actually work. The problem is that I had gdm
running on the
Linux box and the RedHat server logs you into runlevel 3.
I'll start to look into gdm to tell it to deal with NIS but has anyone come
across this
problem before?
thanks,
Andy

Hi All,
I'm trying to implement NIS and I'm stuck.
I've set up the server on our RedHat machine and the client on my Debian
box.
When I run ypcat I get the following:

andrew.dixon:$1$h7CPc4pd$WilaTSJaZOPgHfvhqwVnJ.:11424:11424::/home/andrew.dixon:/bin/bash
