The easiest way is to upgrade to a kernel later than 2.0.36 (2.2.1 would
be preferable). Kernels before that don't recognise memory above 64M and
and have to be told about it on the lilo configuration file. Like so.

Make sure you have ppp support either compiled in or loaded as a module for the
kernel.

You'll need to edit /etc/init.d/network if you're talking about the
ethernet IP address.
For PPP dialed up to a normal ISP, that's determined by your ISP, not
your machine.
As an asside to the list, what's the chances of the /etc/init.d/network
scripts being replaced with something else? Long ago

I'm having problems getting my printer to work with the 2.2.x kernels.
I've added the parport stuff into the kernel and my lilo.conf, but still

Here is what I've done so far:

Or you could download 2.0.36/2.2.1 kernel source, which should recognize
the memory.

Hi all,
I have a Mustek CG-6000 hand held color scanner ( it's perfectly fine for
what I do), anyway I can't seem to get it to be acknowledged by sane. When I

Hi,
I am running Debian-slink and I've downloaded the new kernel from potato,
everything works find except that I can't mount any samba shares. I used
to call
smbmount //bodiam/courses /mnt/bodiam/courses
-U ahus1 -f 700 -d 700 -u 1003
but that doesn't seem to work any more.
What can I do?

I want to make the SAMBA package from hamm join an NT domain. Do I see it
right that this is not possible and that I have to manually compile a SAMBA
>=2.x?
I want to know why our linux is called DEBIAN.

What software did you upgrade before going to 2.2.1? Are you running
anything as modules, and if so how did you configure this? I
