Hello,
A few days ago I noticed that my Debian 1.1 can not
extract multivolume tar archives from floppies - each
attempt ends up in segmentation fault.
I have upgraded fdutils to the 4.3-5 version saying "Y"
to new-style floppy devices. I also upgraded tar to the
version 1.11.8-5.

I have a file system that was damaged, and I lost some files that had

Several remarks.
1) Don't give an entry

Hello,
I can't find several files that used to live in the TeX directory, for
example mflib_1.0-8.deb and mfbasfnt_1.0-7.deb. I've looked in buzz,
rex, unstable to no avail. The symlinks do not exist. Still with
problems at ftp.debian.org?

After marking everything I want and installing all these packages
there were too many errors to proceed at the configuration tasks. The
main problem seems to be a missing cpp, in spite of that package
having been marked. So the question arises, in which order the
packages should be installed --

Does anyone know of a document reader/editor that will read Microsoft Word

I just started the job to regenerate the Packages file. The mirroring process

I think you haven't loaded the driver for your SCSI controller. The
message about the NCR53c406a seems to indicate you don't have one of
those. Try using the "modprobe" tool, or you can build a custom kernel
with the driver linked in.
Thanks

Besides using "xntp", you can simply put an "rdate " command
in the appropriate place. If you use PPP, this would be /etc/ppp/ip-up .
That would set the time whever connecting to the PPP server.
If you have an Ethernet, you can call it from a script in /etc/rc2.d .

It seems that the fonts for XFree86 3.2 are not under the directory

Yes, pppd works with slirp without a hicough. I tried both slackware and

Hi,
Having recently had a scare where I thought I had lost my harddrive, I
have been motivated to investigate the possibility of purchasing a
backup device.
Two questions:
1. What backup hardware should I buy? (I don't want to spend too
much)

Does anyone have any experience getting ppp started from a base system
that just has been installed in a computer? I don't have any experience
with ppp because all my other debian systems have been connected to lans.
I think I got my ppp.chatscript correct, but I can't get the modem to
