The configuration of the system locale has been moved from
/etc/environment to /etc/default/locale.
You should add
session required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
to /etc/pam.d/kdm. Take a look at /etc/pam.d/login for details.

It seems that the problem lies in ~/.kde/share/apps/akregator/Archive
not being sufficiently (if at all) binary forward-compatible. Erasing
it solve the problem while retaining the imported feeds, but it still
looses the history of what's already been read.

Same systematic crash while upgrading to 3.5.2-1. Removing the whole
congifuration at every update, including the list of all feeds is
really annoying.
Aren't updates within 3.5.x supposed to retain full backward
compatibility?

Hi,
Locale variables have been moved by locales 2.3.6-5 into their own
file, and no more under PAM wings. The attached patch modifies PAM
settings to also read this file.

I see 'Tags added: moreinfo', what in particular are you looking for?
I've attached several backtraces with kdepim-dbg, qt-x11-free-dbg and
kdelibs-dbg installed.
Willing to help if you can tell me more what you are looking for.
Thanks.

FYI: The status of the kgeography source package
in Debian's testing distribution has changed.
Previous version: 0.4-4
Current version: (not in testing)
Hint: Package not in unstable
The script that generates this mail tries to extract removal
reasons from comments in the britney hint file
Not sure if this helps, but ran knode with --nofork and --sync under strace
