Stopping proc
adi-backend-mysql depends only on the mysql server , without the
init scripts not other system-wide setup (including global passwords).
Also note that this bug (#580706) is turning into a black hold of
different issues, and merging #686147 with this was not a good move and
has been reverted.

Can somebody clarify this? Where *should* a user put their Akonadi
SQLITE database file? I mean, I could always shove it in ~/ but I
think there should be a place where this file belongs by default.

It seems Akonadi, by default is trying to use MySQL even though by default,
the distribution installs akonadi-backend-sqlite, and by default, mysql
isn't installed. So, by defaul

Thank you! Although this was probably unrelated to this bug, editing
akonadiserverrc gets kmail working again for me. However, has anyone

mysql-server is not installed, so there is no mysqld available. However I
am using akonadi-backend-sqlite, so mysqld should not be required for
akonadi to work. If it is, then there is either a bug in

Hi Michael,
I think, we had a bad start with our conversation.
I was a bit frustrated about this new bug (I had several bugs and
lost functions in the past since KDE moved from 3 to 4) and my
mails were not as polite as it should be.
I'm sorry.
Please let us restart on a constructive base.
