No way should kdebase be deprecated, as it is a very useful package to install
only the basic packages to get a minimal but working kde desktop.
Anyways, if it is the expected behaviour of a system (wich has no proper sound
system installed) to play the sound via the internal pc-speaker, then c
I did a fresh Squeeze install. I choose minimal via tasksel. After first boot
into my newly installed system i did an "apt-get install kdebase kdm". That did
not pull alsa or pulse or any other sound system along with it. Therefore i had
to manually install alsa.

Additional informations:
At the time of reporting the bug, neither pulseaudio and pulseaudio-module-x11,
nor alsa-base and linux-sound-base were installed. After installing them, these
problems vanished. But therefore other problems occured.
