Ok, I tried the hint from KDE:
Setting LC_ALL in /etc/init.d/kdm works.

Since I moved from KDE 3.5 to KDE 4.2, kalarm crahes on every startup.
kalarm seems to work correct after the crash. But besides the crash
beeing annoying, it seems to disrupt startup of other app

kmail might want to remember if I wanted to sign a certain message
even if it was saved to drafts folder later, but for sure it has
to sign messages saved to drafts folder when signing every maessage
was chosen in the settings.
