I would suggest that the Debian sun-java packages ship a symlink

and all the progs use /usr/lib/jvm/java-sun as path ...

this is not a bug. You cannot add a printer in Openoffice, when it finds
cups installed on your system. It even happens if it only detects
libcups* which is installed for compatibility-reasons when using gnome
However, it is possible, to add printers and use them with cups:
Edit /etc/openoff
