It is a well known bug on the 1.1.2 series. You can either downgrade to 1.1.1, move up to 1.1.3 from unstable (still has some minor issues, but the bug is gone), or open your document using 1.1.1 from Debian or 1.1.3 from OpenOffice.org (not the debian package), save your documents as MS-Word 95 (t

Yes, they should be replaced by hyphens (update-desktop-database) and if after you fix /var/lib/dpkg/info/openoffice.org.postinst, you still get an error on the same line, more likely it is because you are missing the desktop-file-utils package that contains the update-desktop-database file. BTW,

We are having the same problem here (40+ users). [Writer] Documents that worked perfectly (or at least would open) on version 1.1.1, now crash Openoffice 1.1.2-5 What's interesting about this crash is that if the file is converted to .sxw (using version 1.1.1), it can be opened with version 1.1.2-
