Agreed, but HTTP is not the ultimative help. See corp
can use remote SMTP server too, but it's not really easy too : you
have to setup service host and login each time you install reportbug on
a server, and remember the password (password often choosen by your FAI)
each time you will use reportbug.

hub tools work with local repo only. Keeping an updated mirror is not a
good method for me, it is a painful task and you are never sure of the
status
By the way, you can t use Debian repo to put several repo. a github repo
refers to a single git repo.
