First of all, please make them translatable.
man po-debconf will give you the needed information, but it's
basically a matter of prepending Choices and Description with "_"

In the end adding lzma to dpkg can't harm, it's just a small patch and
has no external requierements, code size just grows like 12 kb or
something.
