I've been hit by the same problem (also amd64 -- ThinkPad R61i).
Installing Sjoerd's package makes network-manager behave better, but it
still doesn't believe in my wireless interface (which previously worked
fine).

Are you also on amd64?
So far only amd64 users seem to be bitten by the bug (I'm running i386
and NM works fine).

The winner is 80_static-mutex-aliasing-warnings.patch , in case you
haven't found yet (in which I doubt). Didn't check why.

Hi all,
I'm also affected by this bug. Using an ethernet cable, I'm able to
obtain a connection when I restart dbus. Wireless does not work at all.
wpa_supplicant is never started by network-manager. I first suspected
dbus as anything done through nm-applet seems to be lost (no log output

Weird.
Adrian,
can you confirm that downgrading to 2.16.1-1 (which doesn't contain this
patch) fixes the problem?

Package: network-manager
Version: 0.6.5-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
When upgrading from libglib2 2.14.6-1 to 2.16.1-2 network manager
reports that there are no network found, the hardware devices are
working though.
Downgrading to 2.14.6-1 fixes the problem, but I am
