Hi,
I'd like to know if this only affects SMB, or also CIFS?
FYI, SMB/NetBIOS is semi-officially deprecated by Microsoft in newer
Windows versions starting with XP, and I also read somewhere that the Samba
team only tests for regressions with CIFS.

Is there any chance that you can test whether this is also a
problem with
the 3.0.27a Samba package in unstable?
I can confirm 3.0.27a from unstable does not have this problem - I
just rebuilt 3.0.27a for stable and I'm

Exact same problem. A directory that on debian has 4958 files only shows
386 on Windows explorer. Also, programs that access network mounted
drives from this server now return with an error. This all worked
flawlessly prior to the -6etch7 security update. Downgrading to -6etch4

Upgrading to 3.0.24-6etch7 causes large directory listings to be
truncated using both smbclient and Windows explorer. We have several
