I'm seeing this bug as well.
The port is open, but seems to be otherwise unresponsive. There are
no errors logged when trying to connect.
Rolling back the jabber package from 1.4.3-3.1 to 1.4.3-3 results in
the ssl port functioning again.

This bug fix appears to have moved MDADM's startup to before the
modules are loaded, thus breaking detection of any arrays which appear
on module-driven devices.
Please consider a different fix.
