I don't think that's the problem I'm seeing. I have valid keys in the default locations, in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.pem and /etc/dovecot/private/dovecot.pem I commented out the lines in /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-ssl.conf and ran the package upgrade again, then re-enabled the lines in the conf file and my installation is now working with encryption enabled.
