If it's a patch issue, `dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc` will likely produce a
package that will break, you could try that too as a first attempt. You
could also try applying patches selectively and see if a specific one

Hi Tobias,
Thanks for the patch! As the release team has said it's too late, I'll
try to get this accepted upstream and make an upload after the freeze.

Dear maintainers,
Finally I have found the problem to package hdparm in debian jessie.
Resume: *the problem is the way that the package hdparm in debian jessie's
repository is compiled*.
Well, to get to that conclusion, first I compared the sources of hdparm from
debian jessie and from ubuntu

The problem is actually udisks2-inhibit. The upstream fix for #781716

I guess there is more to it then, at least on lxde removing gvfs is
all it takes. For other DEs you'll need to do some work to figure out
which other piece is also a problem.

You'll probably need to reboot to get gvfs to completely go away. See:

Hi,
I could only reproduce this bug with sysvinit as init system. I think
one could use runlevel (if it exists) to detect whether a real shutdown
is running. Maybe something like the attached patch could fix the
problem (not yet tested).

I missed this during testing since I don't use gvfs. gparted can be
made to work again if the gvfs package is removed, but that of course
is not a real solution.
