Could it be that it's a memory problem ? not enough memory to compile and
the porterbox has enough.

Merely removing the [i386] seems to handle the issue. However, there
are some Lintian errors which need to be taken care of in connection
with the start/stop scripts.
I've attached a trivial patch, hope someone can make progress on this
