What exactly is the PAM problem here? There's no pointer to a relevant bug, so I'm a bit lost? (I can't use xscreensaver because of it's messing with DPMS, so I'd like xlockmore to be a bit more in shape so it gets back in testing at one point, but I'm not sure the amount of work needed for that).
