Running memtest I found that my ram chip fails systematically between 128MB
and 256MB (most of the time reading the binary complement of the data
instead of the good value for the last byte). I replaced the faulty chip
and I ran reiserfsck again and it worked without problems.

I did a fresh install of lenny today. I selected to use the experimental grub2
instead of legacy grub.
After reboot I got the debian splash image in grub. Waited 5 seconds and then
grub gave me some error message
Ok with the log I have found that a .tmp blocked mlnet start. I supposed to
have read right in the init.d script but I was wrong.
Just a question now: if removing --background gives me a good log why this
option is there?
With a log I have never opened this bug.
