I confirm the bug reported by Bas. My configurations are however different.

gnucash-2.2.1

running under Ubuntu-7.10 Gutsy

which is running under coLinux-0.73.1

on a Windows XP SP3 host

My main files are on the NTFS partition on a local drive under Windows.

mounted as cofs3 from coLinux

1. When I opened the file, I got a warning that there was a lock.
2. However, there was no lock, so I continued opening.
3. I modified the data and saved the files.
4. When I tried reopening, I got the error that the file does not
exist.
5. I checked the NTFS filesystem, and indeed the file was not there.
6. The funny thing is that none of the undelete utilities reported
deletion of the file. I wonder what mechanism was used by gnucash to delete
the file. I lost 6 months of work. Now, to setup an automatic backup
utility!

Warm Regards

Sanjay
