Re: content-negotation: the www FAQ[1] makes me think that, at least currently,
it's not worth attempting anything more advanced than language negotiation.
Re: file suffixes: after re-reading the Sphinx code and experimenting with a

I tend to ignore the language-related issues with the search for now.
Currently we have no document-wide search functionality at all on the Sphinx-
based documents on our website.
So it's clearly an improvement, if it works for English at least.
