Bug#841385: This is a two year old bug

2019-03-14 Thread Nye Liu
This is a completely brain damaged bug that is now going on 3 years old with no fix in sight. Meanwhile, golang-1.12-go installs go in /usr/lib/go-1.12/bin, but the only way to use it is to add it to the path or overwrite the symlinks. Insanity.

The alternative will be removed from the next upload of gccgo, or at least that's what doko told me. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=842254 is about fixing this properly. I don't really want to fix this the way you are suggesting because most packages that are implemented in Go

This remains an issue, and it happens every time even a maintenance rebuild of gccgo is published.

Package: golang-go Version: 2:1.7~1 Severity: important Installing gccgo-6=6.2.0-6 after golang-go=2:1.7~1 triggers an update-alternatives that replaces /usr/bin/go with a symbolic link to /etc/alternatives/go. It looks like the fix for #840190 did not coordinate with an update to golang-go that
