I’ve fixed this upstream at http://c.i3wm.org/7b00114 (but do note
that the bugtracker is http://bugs.i3wm.org/, which I encourage you to
use for such issues in the future).
The change will be included in the next new upstream release.

maintainer) to switch from X-LightDM-DesktopName to DesktopNames to set
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP. Since i3-wm seems to be the only user in Debian [1]
