2015-02-16 Thread Peter Spiess-Knafl
Hi Jose! ABI compat. has been double checked by the upstream author and by me. I also managed to get him signing releases. All bugfixes have been backported from 1.4.x branch and will also be backported in the future, which makes simpler for us to package it. So everything is very fine with versi

Hi Peter. I contacted with my mentor for this package (Cleto Martin). He is the owner of the Bitbucket repository and the one that can give you write access to it. In addition, I'm not very familiar with debian-alioth, but if you see that it's a better option than Bitbucket, I'll be happy with th

Hi Jose! I haven't heard back from you about co-maintainership of jsoncpp. What is the current status? I am having very much contact with upstream for supporting a stable 0.8.x release that replaces old 0.6.x for stable. Additionally we should consider packaging latest 1.x release for experiment

Hi! That is great to here. Upstream is currently working on ABI compatiblity. About the repo. My user on bitbucket is cinemast. Maybe we could switch to collab-maint on alioth? https://alioth.debian.org/projects/collab-maint/ But therefore we would both need to be suggested by a DD to accept our

Hi! Of course, you can! I'm very glad to work with you in this package. We have a repository with the debianization of the package, using git-buildpackage thanks to Cleto Martin. This repository is hosted in Bitbucket, so if you have an account there, we can grant you the write permissions. Curr

2015-01-28 Thread Peter Spiess-Knafl
Upstream is actually very active and willing to help us out with keeping ABI compatiblity. It seems it is possible except for one issue, which would break support for ARM. I do not have enough knowledge about this to give upstream good advices on that. If that could be fixed, it seems that we cou

Hello José, you coming back is a very good news. But maybe you should consider the proposal of Peter of co-maintainance? Just an idea, as I would not be involved... Thanks for your time, Mt. On Wed, Jan 28, 2015 at 10:25:03AM +0100, José Luis Segura Lucas wrote: > > Hi all! > > I'm very sorry.

ABI breakage is not a problem. Upstream should simply bump the so name of the library, and you're set. If upstream does not do so, you can do it yourself (but it would be better to do it for all distros and OSes). It's even a good news to have an active upstream that cleans up his/her house and pu
