This bug is biting people repeatedly for several years.
For me, it causes openvpn (with libpam-mysql) to fail after some time, with
these error messages in log:
ovpn-openvpn[27343]: a.b.c.d:1194 PLUGIN_CALL: plugin function

locked up in 2 weeks.
