I had 3 execi commands in my conky set with intervals less than the
update-interval (10),
${execi 10 uname -r | head -c5}$machine

I am dismayed that this bug still persists across so many distributions,
kernels, and releases and nobody has been able to do anything about it.
Yesterday I noticed that it worked for me fine too, but only after 4
hours of uptime.
A cold restart and it was back to the random intervals.
I'll do some more extensive debugging and then I'll report back when
I've found anything.

suspending the system or after switching trough the Gnome Shell
workspaces. I hope this helps a bit
I still experience the random update intervals so I don't think it's
fixed yet. I use Gnome 3 in Debian Testing. If you need any other
information I'll be happy to give it.

But the update_interval becomes random when I use the Gnome shell like
