Another user succeeded in reproducing (and digging out) the bug.
The resolution should be in git today.

In 0.15.3 I could load gpx/osm files by specifying them on the
command-line but with 0.16 it flashes the files and then immediately
closes them, making me click through the open menu to find the files.
