Bug#502876: [xvnc4viewer] Please support unix domain sockets

2013-09-14 Thread Ola Lundqvist
Hi Just to check. You can let it listen to 127.0.0.1 only to achieve similar results. The only limit is that you can not use file permissions to limit access. But I agree, socket support would be good. Inguza Technology AB Sent from a phone Den 12 sep 2013 10:42 skrev "Petter Reinholdtsen" : >

Ok. I see. This was a new configuration to me. Well in this case I can see the interest in having a socket option. However implementing it is likely not trivial depending on the spagetti-code of vnc. Patch is welcome! :-) I'll see what I can do about this however when I get some more time. Likely

Hi Ola, the main reason why I want to use unix domain sockets is that I sometimes run a lot of virtual machines with kvm simultaneously. Normally I only access the machines via ssh. However, I have to use vnc to debug problems with the network configuration. So I just use vnc as a convenient

Hi Jakob What would you need vnc for in this case? I understand that people would like to use UDP (even if it would not work with the current vnc protocol), but unix sockets is very strange to me. I mean a unix socket is only local to your local computer. I do not understand this request. :) Th

Package: xvnc4viewer Version: 4.1.1+X4.3.0-30 Severity: wishlist --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hi, it would be very useful if xvnc4viewer could connect to unix domain sockets instead of tcp ports. This would allow using simple unix filesystem permissions for access control
