Hi,
We're being bit by the same bug. Duplex setting is respected when
printing from Linux clients, but through samba it gets reset to default
somewhere along the way.
However, it seems that there may be two separate bugs: At least in our
case pstops is not the culprit, since bypassing it with

Hi,
I checked in cups bugs but couldn't find something similar. I'm using
cups1.3.8-1+lenny8. I forgot to mention but I found out that when the
windows driver is PCL there is no problem, although it's passing again
through pstops and foomatic. The problem exist only for the postscript jobs.

Hi,
Nikolay, I don't know if this bug is debian related or not.
Maybe you could take a look at cups bug reports :
http://www.cups.org/roadmap.php
You can still access to closed bug reports.
Besides, why version of cups are you using ?

Hello,
Unfortunately no workarounds for me yet. We have setup with different
windows drivers (PCL, PS, cups-windows PS). I tried to change pstops from
etch, it seems it's working but then foomatic-rip fails (on some of the
printers it's printing, but shows that foomatic-rip failed). Samba option t
We can confirm this bug in pstops (which is not limited to printing from
Windows). Any postscript job submitted going through the pstops filter will
lose its duplex setting and come out simplex. Substituting the pstops filter
with the one from etch (and installing a dependent copy of libgnutls.s
Hello,
thank you Henry Jensen for your suggestion.
I have renamed /usr/lib/cups/filters/pstops to pstops.lenny and copied the
pstops from an etch machine to the updated lenny server
as pstops.etch. Then made a symbolic link for pstops.etch -> pstops

Hi, I hope it is ok to answer via email and not via reportbug.
The corresponding machine neither has email nor internet access.
I think somehow I have the same problem, but I'm not shure.

Hello,
i ran into this problem today, when I upgraded our print server from etch to

I had the same problem and tried the suggestion at [1]:

And now everything works.
Beware though that this has side effects that may or may not concern you.

hi!
I just verified that his bus still persists in experimental.
After some research I tried fixing it by using the current ghostscript 8.64 from
ubuntu. This still didn't help.
How could this be debugged?

Hi!
I just upgraded a etch printserver to lenny. Everythings fine,
but printing duplex from win2k doesn't work anymore.
Furthermore this seems to be the same problem as in #497671.
Maybe merge the bugs?

Christ
I also have this problem in the latest version in Lenny. I have the
following packages installed.
It is not machine specific, as I have encountered this problem in
numerous installs at three different locations.

cups is not paying attention to the duplex lines inside a DSC standard
postscript file like those produced by Macs and Windows PCs. Instead cups
resets the duplex to whatever is the default for the print queue. This used
to work in etch.
