I've got the Same Problem with Debian Lenny, on an Asus F3T Laptop:
When I tried to run aptitude upgrade, and it got stuck at
Checking battery state...
/dev/sda:
setting Advanced Power Management level t
Hi.
Downgrading to 109-3 and then running "aptitude safe-upgrade" upgrades
back to 109-5 without issues. It prints:
Checking battery state...
/dev/sda:
setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
.
But it doesn't hang like the first time.
So I'd say it's unreproducable... unfortunatly

Justification: renders package unusable
