Just for the record, according to the bug report, IPv6 comes with MySQL-6.0.
Can we downgrade the severity for the 5.x version to wishlist?
"important" bugs always jump into my eyes and we cannot do anything about it.

The current version of mysql apparently doesn't support IPv6 at all. The
5.0.32 (etch) server I have running only listens on IPv4 sockets, and
libmysqlclient 5.0.45 uses gethostbyname_r() to look up hostnames, which
