Package: netselect
Version: 0.3.ds1-12.1
I had the same problem that I solved by enabling ports for traceroute in
the firewall. These would be udp destination ports 33434-33600. So it is
probably not a bug.

When I try, as root, using the gnome-terminal, to run either netselect,
or netselect apt, the response is always "sendto: Operation not permitted":
debian:/home/mark# netselect ftp://mirror.direct.ca/pub/linux/debian/
http://debian.yorku.ca/debian/ ftp://
