1) uninitialized variable stract stat st, as was correctly pointed

I tried to reproduce this bug on my spare machine and was unable to do so.
I put a clean install of the latest Debian Etch on my spare AMD64
machine, then got the source and ran ./configure, make, make check.
Everything went fine: 54 tests successful, 7 skipped.
