Hello all, I tried to reproduce this bug on my spare machine and was unable to do so.
I put a clean install of the latest Debian Etch on my spare AMD64 machine, then got the source and ran ./configure, make, make check. Everything went fine: 54 tests successful, 7 skipped. I then reinstalled the latest Debian Etch, but this time using the XFS filesystem instead of EXT3, same results. Is there anything else I can try? How do I make sure I'm using the same sources as you? I'm using the latest sources for tar 1.15.91 available on the GNU tar site.
